GLENTHORNE WEEKEND AWAY, FRIDAY 16 – SUNDAY 18 February 2018
We hope you can join us for this East Cheshire Area Meeting weekend away at Glenthorne Quaker Guest House at Grasmere in the Lake District in winter. We hope to appreciate beauty at a different time of year, get to know one another, and enjoy deepening friendships with folk of all ages across our local meetings. We hope that you will be able to come along, whether this will be a new experience for you or whether you have been lots of times before.
Glenthorne is a long-established Guest House a few minutes walk from the village of Grasmere. There is easy access to walks nearby and it is on the doorstep for longer walks into the hills – and great sledging if there is snow. Look at ‘www.glenthorne.org’. Glenthorne can be reached by public transport, with a bus service running fom Windermere railway station to Grasmere. There is a car park on site. We hope very much that Friends will use public transport if possible and maximise car-sharing otherwise.
We want everybody to feel able to come for the weekend. See charges below but do ask for help if needed!
Adults: £160 Please ask an overseer/us if you can’t afford this, as support is available.
Young people aged 11 to 17 £50 (but may need to share a room with a parent/guardian)

There are double, twin, single and family rooms, most with en suite bathrooms. Glenthorne is accessible for wheelchairs with several dedicated accessible en-suite rooms on the ground floor.
The weekend will be relaxed, and people can do what they wish. However we will, as in the past, offer a variety of activities dependent on the weather, including walks, a Saturday evening entertainment, creative activities, and all age worship on the Sunday morning. The weekend will finish on Sunday after lunch. If you wish to stay on at Glenthorne for Sunday evening, or subsequent nights you would have to arrange this directly with Glenthorne, once your place on the AM weekend has been confirmed.
We ask you to return the booking form (attached) to Peter Eccles, 34 Elmsmere Rd, Didsbury, Manchester M20 6FL with a deposit indicated on the booking form, by 31st December 2017 or as soon after as possible.
