Building Peace in our Community

Friday, 3. November 2017 -
19:00 to 21:00
Stockport Quaker Meeting House, Cooper Street, Stockport, SK1 3DW.

A Stockport for Peace event.

A talk and discussion with Hannah Larn from the Tim Parry-Johnathan Ball Peace Foundation, Warrington.   Hannah is working with We Stand Together and Young Women for Peace on a youth peace building project   Previously she was a  Quaker Peace and Social Wintess worker.

Here is some background information from the Peace Foundation.

"The Peace Foundation has been working with communities in Manchester over the past five years doing a range of projects. We are currently commissioned (until the end of the financial year) to deliver a suit of projects within Manchester City region, which includes the project you mention below, Small Steps for Peace, which Peace Makers in Birmingham and Friends House in London contributed to. In terms of the future and our current campaign in collaboration with the Manchester Evening News, and in line with the first call for peace education to be embedded in all schools across the Greater Manchester region, we are offering our current projects as ways of meeting this goal. As such we’re looking for potential delivery partners. We Stand Together also has support nationally from Prevent, so funding for activities could come from the Home Office."

East Cheshire Quakers are supporting a Peace Education Project to deliver peace education in local schools. We are currently in training, but have done some workshops.

This meeting will provide a good opportunity to find out more.
